I've Got A List

I don’t know why we are surprised when we find that the promises made during an election keep getting put off for this reason or that reason. It is the nature of the beast. I suppose that the bigger surprise would be if the promises were kept.

We all know the story of the scorpion and the frog. The scorpion asking a frog to carry him across a river. The frog is afraid of being stung, but the scorpion argues that if it stung, the frog would sink and the scorpion would drown. The frog agrees and the scorpion stings the frog during the crossing, dooming them both. When asked why, the scorpion points out that this is its nature.

A polititian just can’t help but do everything in his power to get elected or re-elected, believing that the end will certainly justify the means. Maybe, but I happen to think that once that line is crossed then it becomes much easier for the next time. It isn’t just politics either. My grandson who is four,  had his soccer game tonight and when there was two minutes left the coach has everyone on both teams come on the field for a free for all. Good fun. Tonight there was an older brother there who really wanted to play and for this final two minutes he stood in the goal and the coach said OK, but reminded him that they were little kids. His mother told him to take it easy as well. The first time the ball came to him he kicked it quite hard and the coach and his mom told him to take it easy, we don’t want the little kids hurt. The next time the ball came to him he it up and threw it further than the length of the field. My point is that he wasn’t a bad kid and he genuinely felt he was holding back, but it is in his nature to do his best.

There will probably be a postal strike by the end of the month. Most of us realize that if the two parties sat down and really tried to work together then they could avert the strike. The vast majority of people just want to do the best job that they are able. The problem is both management and labour have a long history of not trusting each other, mostly with good reason. It is my belief that people can only bring out of themselves what is truly inside. When someone institutes a policy of mistrust, it is generally because they themselves would steal, lie or cheat given the same circumstance. Sadly, there is nothing to be done, as it is their nature.

I had hoped that the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, peace would guide the planets
and love would steer the stars. I don’t see it! I guess it is one of those, I will see it when I believe it things.

I believe that there are many people whose greatest contribution to the world would be their death. It is just in their nature!

I have a list. It is my better off dead list. It seems to grow larger every day. This is my contribution to the world, well, one of them. When judgement day comes and the All Powerful IS, begins passing judgement I am going to put my hand up and say, “ Hey…yeah you there…God! I’ve got a list that might interest you!”

I can’t help it, it's my nature.
