Thanks World

You know, some days are just meant to be enjoyed. You don’t have to do anything in particular; in fact it might be better if you just do nothing.

Today was one of those days for me. The weather couldn’t have been any better (for me) and every where I looked people and things were happy. Even my pathetic little tomato seedlings seemed less pathetic and in a way, hopeful. They hope that I water them on a regular basis; they hope that there will be long sunny days and temperate nights. They hope for no tomato blight or any evil, pecking birds. They can hope all they want to, God doesn’t listen to tomato plants!

I didn’t have to do anything, but the world just allowed a flow of activities that seemed more or less effortless. I had a nice cool walk with Buster the first thing this morning, without running into other dogs and their ignorant owners. He picked a place to disgrace himself that wasn’t at the corner of two busy streets and his disgrace was nice and solid. You dog walkers who pick up after their dogs know what I’m talking about. We both enjoyed the walk.

I managed to get some late gardening done and I am hopeful that the garden will be fruitful this year. God listens to old retired guys. The lawn took the water I gave it and didn’t let it run down the street like so many others lawns do. I have a buddy that thinks the city should factor in lawn watering when calculating usage. They figure that if you use 1000 gallons of water, then 1000 gallons of water goes into the sewer and needs to be processed which they charge us for. We know that the lawn keeps what we give it so if anyone should pay, it is the lawn. I will keep you informed about what the city thinks.

I had some spare plywood and today seemed like a good day to do something with it. I built a shelf and I am 70% complete. The spare plywood was just short a shelf and I am going to need to get a little creative. I hope that tomorrow is a creative day.

Let’s see, what else? I made a couple of loaves of bread and some grape popsicles. Backed up a couple of DVD’s for Hurricane to enjoy and did some pleasant summer reading. All in all, just a nice day. Thanks world!
